VIP Food Critic Visits Chez Bob's Spot

If you really need to understand just how important Bob's expert foodie guest, Meredith Hughes, is... browse over to http://foodmuseum.typepad.com/food_museum_blog/2008/12/green-chile-bisque.html and read The Food Museum's blog (and then be sure to visit the on-line foodie museum).
On the menu: green chili bisque and delicious lasagne (did I spell that right?). Good red wine and crusty bread with olive oil dip, completed with the best salad I've ever tasted! I think it had cranberries, walnuts, and interesting goodies hidden in that salad, but it could have been a meal by itself.

Most Honored Guest Kassani Night

Undoubtedly, the BEST French Onion Soup ever!

I do see that Kassani and Eric are delighted with Bob's creation of the week. Delicately sauteed onions in a delicious base of slightly sweet soup topped with toasted, crunchy, cheesy, nutty bread - YUM!

Something Yummy

Fresh Green beans, Chez Bob style... are so good! The meat dish melted... as though they had been marinated for a month. It was Nick's last night to enjoy this special dinner spot with Bob, Eric, and me; and we certainly did!

Last Day of Summer at Chez Bob's

"Don't worry about the bloody ostrich burger, it's been cooked to 160 degrees" Chez Bob.

Ostrich and buffalo and corn on the cob, oh my!

My favorite dish was the mushrooms, although the ostrich really was very, very delicious.

Nick Greene joined us for dinner. He is living with me (rubyquail) and so he gets to enjoy dinner at the most famous restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico!

All American just for Eric

Bob cooks special for Eric when it's just the two of them - all american beans, buns, and something long in there, we never know what those long things are, do we? Oh, Bob makes fabulous mashed potatos, too. Good thing it was just the two of them!

It's "diet night" at Chez Bob's

Message: It's safe to come over to Chez Bob's because it's lo-cal night! YEAH!
Review: DELICIOUS! I don't know how he makes shrimp taste so wonderful, but with finely chopped garlic, peppers, scallion - unbelievably special night.

Thank you, Bob!

I forgot to write down the menu!
I guaranteeeeeeee, it was delicious!
I didn't eat this night, I just went to taste test and photograph; well, I ended up tasting quite a bit!

Dinner With Marjorie Love

Impressive! Marjorie can't get over Bob's green chili puree made with real cream and fresh green chili from Hatch, NM.
See, she's very happy here - very, very (take my word for it). Bob made us a very special dinner which I was proud to take my cousin to the best restaurant in town: Chez Bob's!

Ole!

Text message from Bob to Gayle and Eric:
Ole! Chez Bob manana.. Green chili relleno casserole with chef's special refried beans. Hasta!
April 4 2008

We listened to an old CD - I think it was Linda Ronstadt singing in Spanish. Good good, good wine - as usual, I had to have TWO servings because it was so delicious! The casserole was unusual, delicious, and topped with sour cream.
For desert, we had "mole'" some sort of chili and chocolate sauce we used to dip fresh strawberries, topped with REAL fattening whipping cream - YUMMY!
Bob put mushrooms in the refried beans - good idea! I think he missed his true calling.

Nice warm tortillas and a toast to Saturday Family Night at Chez Bobs once again - a big success!

My mother sent Bob a gift: Dinner at Antoinnes, signed by the chef in New Orleans!

I have to kill it first... WHAT?

Oh! Clams! I was worried - all I knew was that whatever we were going to have this Saturday Night Special was going to be a "fresh kill" compliments of the Chef (Bob, that is). The asparagus was delicious! As usual, a perfect presentation and delightful mix of flavor, texture and color. How fun it is!

What a gift - I hope Eric will learn how to cook, too.

Valentine

Eric and I were invited to Chez Bob's for the absolutely most delicious eggplant dish! We had breadsticks with a homemade olive oil and vinegar sauce, an Italian wine (can't remember the name!), and an Italian chocolate bar for desert. Bob wrote a beautiful card, as usual, and gave me a CD from the soundtrack of the movie JUNO, which we had all seen a few weeks ago.

African Night

Tonight was African night at Chez Bob's. Bob played Geoffrey Oriama (sp?) music while we ate an African inspired stew of rice, edaname, sweet potato, spinach, onions and other ingredients (a secret). Bob is a closet professional chef - he spends many hours reading recipes, finding ingredients and preparing interesting food for Gayle and Eric. The table is set for 3, each with a name tag, beautiful presentation, usually 3-4 courses, plus wine. It's always a real treat to eat at Chez Bob's.
